WHO IS MY HERO?
By:  Carlos Marin, Molina High School, 2008
This is a question that won't be easily answered due to the fact that anyone can be a
hero.  A hero isn't necessarily someone who flies around saving the town from
monsters, instead it is a good role model that commits righteous acts instead of
crimes.  So the hero I look up to is Molina's very own Miss AJ Crowell.  Not only is she
a great teacher, she's also a great friend.

Miss AJ showed me that no matter what happened in your past, you can fix the
present and live a better, brighter future.  She is also someone I can relate to because
like her, I also battled with drugs and addiction.  But the fighter inside of me would not
let me surrender to a life of addiction.  All the pain and suffering I caused to my loved
ones motivated me to fight harder until one day when I triumphed over my demons.

After all, I'm a strong individual, but I'm still human and we make mistakes.  And like
Miss AJ, I learned from mine and bettered myself.  I am now the leader of the
Infamous Artists Society, an organization dedicated to students with artistic abilities
such as poems, songs, story writing, drawing and photography.

So it is clear to see why Miss AJ is considered such a heroic figure.  She's the perfect
role model for people who are currently battling addiction or are attending rehab.  She
helped me construct the road to my success and triumph over the rocky road of
darkness and misery.  Hopefully one day I'll be a role model to my children, someone
they can look up to a hero that is always just one call away.
